- ICD Thrash - Toronto
August 25, 2018
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Earlier this year, we held a pilot skateboard program in Niagara, to see if our leaders were up for this challenge. And we are! Come on out to Ashbridges Bay Skatepark in Toronto to show us your tricks and learn some new ones. We can show you some of our diabetes management tricks that we use to keep our blood sugars as balanced as possible so we never have to miss a shred session.
Who: Recommended for T1 skaters aged 10+ and their friends.
When: Saturday August 25 1-4 pm
Where: Meet up at Woodbine Park. We will get to know one another and come up with some diabetes management strategies before heading over to the skatepark.
Why: Why not? Skateboarding can get pretty extreme. Like any other sport, you need to be in top form to excel, and when diabetes is added to the mix, you need even more focus and practice to be your best. Our leaders are positive mentors who live with Type 1 and can help to motivate teens and kids to keep trying and practicing until you land that trick – on a skateboard and in life!
