- Intro to Adventure: Canmore
July 10, 2020 - July 12, 2020
7:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join ICD for an amazing weekend of hiking, connecting and diabetes empowerment in Canmore, Alberta!
Join us for a dynamic Intro to Adventure program this summer in the stunning Canmore Region of Alberta! With numerous peaks and green spaces located in close proximity, there is a wealth of wilderness to explore in the Canmore area, about a one hour drive west of Calgary. We will be staying at the Alpine Club of Canada’s Clubhouse and exploring the surrounding area.
This is a challenge by choice program – you don’t have to hike to the top of a mountain if you don’t want to, it’s your choice! Build connections with our supportive T1D community, and stay motivated and inspired with memories of this beautiful location and the new friends you’ve made.
This amazing experience unites T1Ds and their families and friends, that want to build their outdoor skills while being led by an experienced leadership team. We are fully prepared to help with diabetes management: carbs, sites, troubleshooting, etc. Ideal for tweens and teens not sure about being in nature… and their parents too, our Intro to Adventure is open to all ages, seasoned campers and beginners alike! ICD’s Intro to Adventure is an amazing opportunity to be inspired that you won’t find anywhere else!
Proper hiking shoes/boots, rain jacket, athletic wear are required – we will provide a detailed gear-list to help and answer any questions! Participants may be required to carry a backpack with some of their belongings when on day trips. Mentors will ensure that no one is carrying more than they can handle. In need of gear like a backpack, high-end sleeping bags, or head lamp? We may be able to assist. Please reach out so we can help you be prepared for this adventure!
