    May 19, 2018 - May 21, 2018
    8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Join us for a dynamic weekend of adventure at a Panorama Cottage!

Our ICD team in Alberta has ventured off into the Rockies and crossed back and forth over the BC Alberta border, beautiful rivers and through mountain passes many times over. But each time creates a powerful memory to motivate long after the hike is finished.

Connect with peers who get it, while adding to your skill set. Share strategies with leaders and peers living with type 1 to take into your everyday life, work opportunities and life’s biggest adventures. There will be time for relaxing in hammocks, sitting around a bonfire and getting out into the mountains to connect with nature. With mentors ranging from Elite athletes – from high school to the Olympics, book nerds and business folk, we even have a calming yoga instructor ready to put everyone in the right frame of mind.

What: ICD is well known for it’s leadership development and has designed this retreat to both build you up and thus build up the community with stronger, inspired youth. It is a great weekend for teens and young adults to share the May long weekend! We’ll be in a beautiful cottage in Panorama with a dynamic group living with type 1. We’ll work as a team to get connected, challenge each other and grow.  All equipment will be provided for you and encourage you to take part in our ride sharing initiative.

With our experienced leaders, you will be in capable hands for this weekend getaway. Don’t miss the chance to share strategies on managing diabetes with like-minded individuals and build your skills.

ICD family events are a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours and give back to the community.

More about ICD:  The Charity was founded by Chris Jarvis, a former Olympic rower who succeeded largely due to meeting a teenaged rower who had a lot in common, including T1D. Heather Van der Geest  didn’t have all the answers either, but together they took on overcoming health challenges related to competing in rowing with diabetes at the top of the world. They both ended up competing for team Canada in Athens Greece and played a critical role in the birth of ICD. We are a growing organization that has served thousands of participants and their families. With programs from simple to shattering norms – we look to develop our community to reach out and change lives. Join us.
