- Kids in School: Interactive Workshop
January 13, 2019
2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Welcome to our Kids in School: Interactive Workshop, a connected space of peers and experts that will bring you confidence and support as we each do our best to help our T1D kids thrive at school. Parents and caregivers will learn and share best practices and unique ideas. Our focus will be on approaches, tools, and strategies used to establish a positive relationship with schools, to support each child’s daily diabetes management and enrich their education. The workshop will include guest speakers, audience participation and small group discussions. Please note your main concern or point of action in your registration. We want to address your needs!

Children’s Program: Our kids will be making great use of the beautiful Boulevard Club’s facility in peer groups led by ICD staff and volunteers, including Canadian Olympian, Chris Jarvis. We have a mixed agenda of sports, visual and dramatic arts, where kids will be testing their blood together, learning how other children manage diabetes, and having a ton of fun! ICD is a charity with expertise in team building and mentorship, that helps children make friends -or diabuddies -instantly. Participants of ICD programs report long-lasting impacts on acceptance of diabetes, attitudes regarding it, and heightened self-management skills.
**We understand that some parents may feel nervous about their child’s safety when out of sight. That’s what we are here for and we are happy to accommodate and make sure you are comfortable.
