Job Title: Donor Relations and Fundraising Manager

Reports to: Executive Director
Start Date: As Soon As Possible. Applications will be accepted until September 15, 2025.

Position Overview

I Challenge Diabetes (ICD) is seeking a seasoned fundraiser to join its tight-knit team. In this role, the fundraiser will use expert communication skills and a keen sense of initiative to spot fundraising opportunities, develop relationships with potential donors, and manage fundraising campaigns. By coordinating events, writing proposals, and recruiting and leading volunteers, the fundraiser will leverage strong speaking, writing, and leadership abilities to move ICD closer to its financial goals.

The ideal candidate will be motivated, professional, and organized and have a knack for research. We’re looking for someone who believes in the mission of I Challenge Diabetes and has exceptional drive for furthering our fundraising efforts as well as strategizing and delivering on new ones.

Compensation

Rate of Pay: $47,000 – $60,000/year based on experience

Employment type: Full-Time Permanent with a six-month probationary period to assess performance and fit.

Benefits: Health care benefits available at the 3 month mark

Hours of work: 40 hrs/week, flexible

Work location/type: Hybrid; Home office and event/prospecting travel

Business units: Fundraising, Event Planning and Communications

Expected Travel: 5%

Objectives of this role

  • Promote awareness of the organization’s mission and work
  • Cultivate a network of dedicated donors and volunteers
  • Spot and develop new fundraising opportunities
  • Plan fundraising initiatives to meet $150K-$300K target in new donor dollars to help the organization meet financial goals 
  • Form strong relationships with external stakeholders
  • Ensure major donors are recognized via personalized outreach 

Responsibilities

  • Research individuals, corporations, and foundations that are interested in gift giving and develop a pipeline of major prospects
  • Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors
  • Strategize and successfully execute fundraising campaigns
  • Organize fundraising events while overseeing teams of volunteers
  • Manage a budget and track whether goals are being met
  • Coordinate with ICD program staff to find alignments for donors to engage with ICD’s charitable program delivery 
  • Pursue donors with appropriate budgets and work plans to ensure the charity’s funds are allocated appropriately
  • Supervise donor and sponsor stewardship, ensuring detailed record and documentation are maintained using ICD’s CRM and other tools provided (Kindful, Ticketspice, Slack and Google Sheets)

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience in fundraising, sales, or marketing
  • Exceptional communication, attention to detail and relationship-building skills; at ease with a variety of audiences and public speaking
  • Ability to lead and motivate colleagues, donors and volunteers
  • Ability to successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks and planning big events
  • Competence with donor management systems, record keeping and multi-step communication plans
  • Experience in writing funding proposals, press releases, and fundraising letters

Evaluation Metrics

Performance in this role will be assessed with a growth mindset, focusing on the following key areas:

Strategic Program Development: Lead the creation of signature events and support community initiatives through effective volunteer engagement. Efforts should amplify ICD’s program impact while maintaining a strong dollars-to-charitable-program ratio of over 75% (currently at 82%).

Prospect and Donor Management: Ensure the timely, accurate execution of donor prospecting and stewardship plans, with clear communication and consistent follow-through across all stages of engagement.

Revenue Growth: Secure new funding from donors, sponsors, and events in alignment with quarterly and annual development goals. The role is expected to generate $150,000 to $300,000 annually in new revenue.
