Family Workshops are designed to assist T1D families. Many experienced speakers provide tips on how caregivers can help T1D children thrive in different realms of life! Caregivers of T1D kids are also given the opportunity to engage in productive discussion with speakers and other caregivers.

Meanwhile, T1D kids are provided mentoring by members of the ICD team, by engaging in fun gym activities!

In January 2018, the first ever KIS Family Workshop was held at Toronto.

This workshop, allowed T1D caregivers to connect and share strategies in a guided forum.

Attended by over 110 individuals, including healthcare providers and education professionals.

Topics of discussion included advocating for T1D in school, PPM 161, and road-map to independence in school

Mentoring was separately provided to children by members of the ICD Team. Fun gym activities were also supervised.

Stay tuned on Social Media for information on upcoming workshops!

We Educate the Educator.

We understand that in order to provide a better learning environment, it is important for educators to learn about T1D. Under the Kids In School Initiative, ICD is proud to have provided education to teachers and instructors who teach T1D students. Our team of experienced professionals continue to provide a wide spectrum of education, from the basics of diabetes to training on the use of Glucagon!

Helping students overcome challenges.

We have been offering personalized one-to-one workshops from professional ICD team members to school-going students. These workshops are catered to individual needs of the student. In these workshops, professionals from ICD provide mentoring to students to help overcome particular challenges posed by T1D!
